Airport Development

In the light of the developments under way and planned for Abu Dhabi, ADAC’s mandate includes the expansion and redevelopment of Abu Dhabi International Airport, aimed at delivering world class aviation services to support the Emirate’s long-term economic and tourism strategies that will support the Emirate’s vision in building a vibrant and diversified economy.

A multi-billion USD expansion plan is currently underway at Abu Dhabi International Airport to ensure that the developments in the city are matched by continued high service standards and capacity increase that would meet the increased demand on air transport services.

Abu Dhabi International Airport’s expansion plans entail several medium to large scale projects that included the refurbishment of Terminal 1, and the launch of the new Air Traffic Control Tower, which were delivered in 2011. Developments underway include rolling out the needed infrastructure for ADAC’s Free Zones as well as for the property development services offered at ADAC, whilst moving ahead with the construction of the Midfield Terminal Building (MTB).

As part of the major development of the Emirate’s aviation industry, Al Ain International Airport is also undergoing expansion plans to become home to an Aerospace Cluster, with the a joint collaboration between ADAC and Mubadala Aerospace, aimed to become an internationally recognized center of excellence for aviation technology and innovation in the region.

The planning, infrastructure deployment, and enabling works are currently being undertaken for the various airport developments with more plans to come, to further support ADAC’s mission to become the world’s leading airports group.
