ADAC was created on 4th March 2006 to spearhead the development of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi’s aviation infrastructure. To this end, it is an integral partner in the Government of Abu Dhabi’s Strategic Plan 2030.

Wholly owned by the Abu Dhabi Government, the company is headquartered at its principal asset, Abu Dhabi International Airport. It is the largest operator of airports in the UAE, with a portfolio that also comprises Al Ain International Airport, Al Bateen Executive Airport, Delma Island & Sir Bani Yas island Airports.

Each airport serves a different aviation segment, complementing Abu Dhabi Government’s infrastructural development of the Emirate. The multi-billion dollar investment in Abu Dhabi International Airport makes it one of the world’s most ambitious airport redevelopment projects undertaken at one time.

In 2009, ADAC created the Gulf Centre for Aviation Studies (GCAS), a GCAA-certified centre of excellence, to provide cost-effective training solutions that address some of the challenges confronting the 21st century aviation industry. GCAS has partnered with leading international organisations such as JAATO and ACI to provide world-leading modules in aviation training, along with its own proprietary courses designed and tailored for the specific aviation needs of the UAE and the region.

Having chosen a diversification strategy for its portfolio of assets, ADAC is also developing a series of commercial districts including an airport business and logistics park (Skycity), and has nurtured and developed a number of subsidiaries and brands that provide essential services to sustain the growth plans of ADAC, including Abu Dhabi Airport Services (ADAS), Abu Dhabi Cargo Company (ADCC), Abu Dhabi In-Flight Catering (ADIFC), and its consumer brands, Shop-Dine-Unwind and Skypark.
