Al Ain International Airport
Operating since 31 March 1994, Al Ain International Airport is Abu Dhabi’s second airport. It is located 18km northwest of Al Ain City.

The airport was originally built to serve 1,000 passengers per peak hour. It has one terminal with 10 check-in desks including one for business class travellers, four gates, a 4,000m runway and a parallel 4,000m taxiway that can double as a runway when necessary.
To meet forecast traffic growth, Al Ain International Airport will be expanded, with the departure lounge and check-in areas to be doubled in size, the addition of a cargo terminal and bonded warehouse, increased office facilities, a hi-tech airline in-flight catering facility, and improved facilities for ramp operations.
Currently, seven airlines operate from Al Ain International Airport, with new carriers and destinations to be added in the near future.

Al Ain International Airport will be home to an Aerospace Cluster jointly developed by Mubadala and ADAC that aims to be globally recognised as a centre of excellence for technology and innovation. The Cluster will serve as a catalyst for economic diversification, employment generation and economic development, attracting world-class aerospace manufacturers, suppliers, research and knowledge institutions, educational facilities, and overall development to the Al Ain International Airport. Residential areas within the development will offer an attractive and affordable lifestyle for the workforce and this will be a key benefit for companies seeking to establish themselves in the area. Al Ain Aerospace Cluster will create the foundations for a new and internationally recognisable aerospace industry and city hub that is commercially viable and sustainable, while attracting additional foreign direct investment to the UAE, as well as enhancing the profile of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi on an international level.
